Sparta Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 20 points or more this season. They really took it to Crenshaw Christian Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 60-2 victory on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Sparta Academy has managed all season.
Sparta Academy relied on the efforts of Jamie Ellissa Deason, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and four steals, and Kaitlyn Johnson, who scored 18 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Johnson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Aubreigh Phillips was another key contributor, scoring four points along with four steals.
Pickens Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Sparta Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 12-2.
Pickens Academy was taken down by Sparta Academy 66-17 in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Pickens Academy was down 33-11.
