Softball Recap: Whippany Park Wins Going Away Against Union City

Whippany Park's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Union City Soaring Eagles. Considering the Wildcats have won four contests by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Gabriela Iellimo and Alexandra Stella did most of the damage at the plate: Iellimo went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and three runs, while Stella went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Stella a new career-high. Jaeden Antonelli was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Whippany Park kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Union City only managed six hits.

The victory got Whippany Park back to even at 6-6. As for Union City, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Whippany Park will take on Park Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Union City, they will square off against North Bergen at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
