The Western Christian Fighting Lancers will head out on the road to square off against the Marshall Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Western Christian's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Marshall's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Western Christian had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Mountain View on Saturday. Western Christian was the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over Mountain View.
Dylan Martinez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on two hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Western Christian got a massive performance out of James Mack, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. Those two hits gave Mack a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Reece Peters, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Marshall was able to grind out a solid victory over Mayfair on Saturday, taking the game 5-1.
Caleb Thatcher made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and one double while going 3-for-3. That double marked the first that he hit this season.
In other pitching news, Michael Gerst looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Trevor Lain, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those RBI marked the first that he brought in this season. Ben Muro was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Marshall lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mayfair didn't launched any home runs.
Western Christian has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. Marshall's record is now 4-1-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Western Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Marshall struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
