Leila Tatupu and Mariah Torres did some serious damage despite the final result: Tatupu went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one RBI, while Torres scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3. Tatupu is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Naderah Ali was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last match, Stagg made sure to put some runs up on the board against Ben Holt College Prep Academy on Monday. Stagg was the clear victor by a 12-3 margin over Ben Holt College Prep Academy. The game marked the Delta Kings' most dominant win of the season so far.
Aerie Garcia made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Garcia was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Rachael Symoungkhoune and Jorge Hernandez did most of the damage at the plate: Symoungkhoune scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-5, while Hernandez scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Alexus Short, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Stagg kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ben Holt College Prep Academy only managed three hits.
Stagg is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. Edison's loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Edison has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Stagg struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
