Baseball Recap: Glen Rose Find Success

Glen Rose hadn't done well against Godley recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Glen Rose Tigers skirted past the Godley Wildcats 9-7. For the Tigers, this counts as revenge for the 4-1 win the Wildcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Cullen Kickhoefer made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adrian Sanchez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Mikey Porter was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Glen Rose hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.

Glen Rose pushed their record up to 9-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Godley, the loss snapped their winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 18-3-1 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Glen Rose will head out to face off against Gatesville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Godley, they will challenge Ferris at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be Godley's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
