Dante Saladino made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Kennedy Catholic is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 4-5 otherwise. Saladino was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Harvey Lieberman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Elliot Kelley-Petersen, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.
Kennedy Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.
Kennedy Catholic pushed their record up to 8-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Auburn Riverside, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 7-4 record.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Kennedy Catholic has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Auburn Riverside struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
