TERRA Environmental are taking a road trip to square off against the Southwest Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
If TERRA Environmental beats Southwest with 20 runs on Monday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. Everything went TERRA Environmental's way against Mater Academy Charter on Friday as they made off with a 20-3 win. The victory continues a trend for TERRA Environmental in their matchups with Mater Academy Charter: they've now won five in a row.
Aryanna Hussain was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Gianna Mantaras, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
TERRA Environmental was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. They are 7-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Southwest came tearing into Friday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by an 18-3 margin over the Stingarees.
Tatiana Perez was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Ami Casteleiro was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Shantell Valle was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Southwest's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for TERRA Environmental, their record now sits at 8-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. TERRA Environmental hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.9 home runs per game. However, it's not like Southwest struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went TERRA Environmental's way against Southwest when the teams last played back in March, as TERRA Environmental made off with a 19-12 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for TERRA Environmental since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
