The South Oldham Dragons and the Highlands Bluebirds squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the South Oldham Dragons had to settle for second. South Oldham was outmatched by Highlands on the road and fell 43-0. While losing is never fun, South Oldham can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky football rankings (they are ranked 45th, while Highlands is ranked sixth).
Brody Benke was his usual excellent self, throwing for 136 yards and three touchdowns on only six passes, while also catching a touchdown. Highlands also got a significant boost from Cam Giesler, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 83 yards.
This is the second loss in a row for South Oldham and nudges their season record down to 6-5. As for Highlands, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-1.
South Oldham does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Highlands will be playing at home against Dixie Heights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Dixie Heights is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
