They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 65-44 walloping at the hands of Bishop McLaughlin Catholic. Foundation Christian Academy's loss continues an unfortunate trend for the team, making it three in a row.
Despite the loss, Foundation Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Micah Sanders, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. That was a full 50% of Foundation Christian Academy's points, marking the 12th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyndale Pittman, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Bishop McLaughlin Catholic found their leader in underclassman Jake Mekdeci, who scored ten points along with eight assists and seven rebounds. That's the first time this season that Mekdeci posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Wilner Rene, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds.
Foundation Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Bishop McLaughlin Catholic, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-11.
Foundation Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Florida College Academy at 3:00 p.m. on January 27th. As for Bishop McLaughlin Catholic, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Universal Academy at 7:30 p.m. Universal Academy is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
