Softball Recap: Chariho Falls Short Against Ranked Coventry

Chariho faced Coventry in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Chargers fell just short of the Oakers by a score of 6-5. The Chargers' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Adriana Jeannenot spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Chariho saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brianna DeGiacomo, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Chariho's loss dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Coventry, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Chariho will face off against rival Pilgrim at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
