The Cimarron Bluejays will take on the Hugoton Eagles on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Cimarron has six straight wins, Hugoton has 17 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
While Cimarron's victory against Ulysses wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bluejays sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-8 win over the Tigers on Tuesday.

Coulter Dohrmann and Ryder Gordon were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Dohrmann struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Gordon pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those six strikeouts gave Dohrmann a new career-high. At the plate, Dohrmann scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Gordon scored two runs while going 1-for-3. Dohrmann is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Breck Averhoff, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last four times he's played.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Hugoton was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They fell just short of Goodland by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Eagles have suffered since April 9, 2024.
Cimarron pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 4.75 runs across that stretch. As for Hugoton, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.
Everything went Cimarron's way against Hugoton in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Cimarron made off with a 12-6 win. Will the Bluejays repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
