Even though the Grapevine Faith Christian Lions scored an imposing 68 points on Monday, Dallas Thunder still came out on top. Dallas Thunder narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Grapevine Faith Christian 71-68. The win was all the more spectacular given Dallas Thunder's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 804th, while Grapevine Faith Christian is ranked 292nd).
Several Lions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Landon Harlin, who scored 24 points along with five rebounds. The match was Harlin's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brennen Byrd, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Dallas Thunder and bumps their season record up to 5-6. As for Grapevine Faith Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-7.
Dallas Thunder is on the road again on January 5, 2024 and play against All S at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Grapevine Faith Christian won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Kingdom Collegiate Academy at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th.
