Abraham Nuno threw three touchdowns and
Hakeem Eubanks caught three as
Valley View (Moreno Valley, Calif.) defeated
Patriot (Riverside, Calif.) 35-6 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Alberto Vargas in the first quarter, the Eagles were up 28-0 at the half.
A big 21-point first quarter helped Valley View secure the win. VV scored on an Vargas touchdown run, a touchdown run by Nuno and an Nuno touchdown pass to Eubanks in the quarter.
Patriot's lone touchdown came on a 4-yard run by
Brandon Pacheco in the third quarter.
The Moreno Valley school also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 21-6.
The victory was a step in the right direction for the Eagles, who were coming off a 47-20 defeat at the hands of Chaparral in its previous game. The defeat comes as a step back for Patriot, who notched a 33-12 victory over Perris in its previous outing.
Patriot (1-1) will play a non-conference game against King next week, while Valley View (2-1) will take on Hemet also in a non-conference game.
