Althoff Catholic took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. Everything went their way against the Alton Redbirds as they made off with a 34-13 win. The victory continues a trend for the Crusaders in their matchups with the Redbirds: they've now won four in a row.

Leading Althoff Catholic to victory were Jayden Ellington and Steven Brown. Ellington rushed for 39 yards and one score, while Brown gained 95 total yards.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Althoff Catholic proved: they limited Alton to a paltry three yards per carry. The Crusaders didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.9.

Several Redbirds players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jamari Rounds, who picked up 33 receiving yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 74 yards.

Althoff Catholic didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 42-26 win against Highland on the 5th. As for Alton, they have also already played their next game, a 33-7 loss against Quincy on the 5th.
