Softball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Homestead's Fourth in Last Five Outings

While Homestead didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran Cadets on Thursday. This was payback for the Spartans, who suffered a 5-4 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Maddy Rodgers was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Another player making a difference was Trinity Rager, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Homestead is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran, their record is now 2-6.

Looking ahead, Homestead will head out to challenge Norwell at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans will need to watch out since the Knights have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games. As for Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran, they will host South Adams at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Starfires' pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so the Cadets' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
