The Archbishop Murphy Wildcats will venture away from home to face off against the Glacier Peak Grizzlies at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Archbishop Murphy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.2 runs per game this season.
Archbishop Murphy is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Edmonds-Woodway just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Wednesday. They lost 9-2 to the Warriors. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Wildcats have suffered since April 22, 2024.
Archbishop Murphy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carly Madhavan, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Glacier Peak waltzed into their game on Wednesday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. Everything went their way against the Eagles as they made off with a 12-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Grizzlies, who have now won five matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Sammie Christensen was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Brooklyn Declusin also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Glacier Peak always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Arlington only posted an OBP of .167.
Glacier Peak pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Archbishop Murphy, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Archbishop Murphy hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 2.1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Glacier Peak struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Archbishop Murphy might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Glacier Peak in their previous meeting back in April of 2021. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
