The Lone Oak Buffaloes fell victim to the Gunter Tigers''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were beaten by the Tigers 75-0. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lone Oak in their matchups with Gunter: they've now lost four in a row.
Among those leading the charge was Dylan Tokarz, who rushed for 90 yards and two touchdowns. Tokarz's longest rush was for an incredible 82 yards. Easton Overman also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Lone Oak's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.3 points per game. As for Gunter, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Lone Oak will be playing at home against Bells at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bells presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lone Oak in Texas (Bells is ranked 284th, while Lone Oak is ranked 767th). As for Gunter, they will head out on the road to face off against Leonard at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Leonard knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matches -- so hopefully Gunter likes a good challenge.
