While it was all tied up 31-31 at halftime, the Northfield Nighthawks were not quite the Denver East Angels's equal in the second half on Monday. Northfield fell just short of Denver East by a score of 68-66. Northfield has not had much luck with Denver East recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Northfield's loss came despite strong showings from Laporsha Allen and Alena Vondracek. Allen dropped a double-double on 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Vondracek scored 12 points along with 5 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Bethel, who scored 8 points.
Northfield's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Denver East, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Northfield will square off against Longmont at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Denver East will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Legacy at 3:00 p.m. on December 16th.
