Softball Recap: Mcgavock Has No Trouble Against Hunters Lane

McGavock got themselves on the board against Hunters Lane on Thursday, but Hunters Lane never followed suit. They were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over the Warriors. Considering the Raiders have won eight games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Amanda Toth was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Toth was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Makenzie Kilby was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Riley Phillips was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for McGavock and bumps their season record up to 9-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Hunters Lane, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. McGavock will square off against rival Overton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Raiders are on a six-game streak of home wins, the Bobcats a three-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind. Meanwhile, Hunters Lane is set to take on their familiar foe Cane Ridge at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
