Baseball Recap: Spaulding Starts Season with Victory at Home

Spaulding took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Coe-Brown Academy Bears a 7-0 shutout. The Red Raiders not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 29, 2024.

Owen Nesbitt was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Nesbitt was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brandon Scamman, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Trevor Cormier was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Spaulding will challenge Dover at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Red Raiders' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Coe-Brown Academy, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Belmont at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
