Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Weeki Wachee Hornets walked away with it. They blew past the Pirates 58-15 on the road on Wednesday. Weeki Wachee has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 matchups by 29 points or more this season.
Weeki Wachee found their leader in underclassman Joelys Rodriguez, who scored 14 points along with seven steals and five assists. Rodriguez hasn't dropped below two steals for ten straight games. Another player making a difference was Nevaeh Clark, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Weeki Wachee is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. As for Crystal River, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost 12 of their last 14 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.
Weeki Wachee will face off against Nature Coast Tech at TBD on Friday. Nature Coast Tech will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Weeki Wachee surely won't give up without a fight. Crystal River does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
