The Summerville Bears were the 63-55 winner over the Hilmar Yellowjackets when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Summerville took a 65-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hilmar on Saturday. Summerville just can't catch a break and has now endured three defeats in a row.
Hilmar found their leader in underclassman Xavier Silveira, who scored 18 points. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Jason Moniz, who scored 12 points.
Summerville's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Hilmar, their victory bumped their record up to 3-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Summerville will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Golden Valley at 7:15 p.m. on December 19th. Golden Valley presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Summerville in California (Golden Valley is ranked 357th, while Summerville is ranked 863rd). As for Hilmar, they will head out on the road to face off against Waterford at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Waterford is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
