Basketball Recap: Mogollon Gets the Win

Mogollon's game on Thursday was all tied up 6-6 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 30-29 victory over the St. David Tigers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.

Mogollon's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ava Plantholt, who posted four points. Kindsey Porter was another key player, putting up six points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Mogollon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. David only pulled down three offensive boards.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emma Hart, who scored 12 points. Hart is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Emelynn Jacquez, who put up six points along with five boards and four steals.

Mogollon has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.8 points per game. As for St. David, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-10.

Mogollon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 72-16 win against Seligman on the 31st. St. David does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
