St. David is on a three-game streak of home wins, while South Wake is on a 14-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. Having just played yesterday, the St. David's Warriors will get right back to it and host the South Wake Sabres at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, St. David's was able to grind out a solid win over GRACE Christian, taking the game 47-35. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 157th, while the Eagles are ranked 359th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

St. David's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Anna Hauser, who posted ten points along with five rebounds and three steals. Hauser has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Holmes, who earned nine points and six boards.
St. David's smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led South Wake over Cary Academy in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that South Wake blew Cary Academy out of the water with a 77-50 final score. The Sabres have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 19 contests by 24 points or more this season.
South Wake's win came from a few key players St. David's will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Rebekah Hartzell, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine assists. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in assists. Another player making a difference was Savannah Taylor, who went 7 for 11 on her way to 17 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.
St. David's is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for South Wake, their victory bumped their record up to 23-1.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: St. David's has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26.7 boards per game. However, it's not like South Wake struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.8 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
St. David's couldn't quite finish off South Wake in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 and fell 51-48. Can St. David's avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
