It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Hawley Bearcats had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 59-16 victory over Panhandle. The win was familiar territory for Hawley who now have eight in a row.
Hawley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Diontay Ramon led the charge by rushing for 81 yards and two touchdowns, while also picking up 110 receiving yards and a touchdown. Ramon was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 65 yards. Keagan Ables was another key contributor, throwing for 281 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 14.1 yards per attempt.
Another reason for the win was Hawley's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Ramon and Hunter Hudson who racked up four sacks between them.
Hawley's victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Panhandle, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 10-2.
Hawley will square off against Sonora at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sonora is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Panhandle does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
