The Coffee Trojans fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Clinch County Panthers on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 47-44. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Coffee has suffered since December 15, 2023.
Despite the loss, Coffee saw an underclassman step up: Lexie Bradford dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds. Bradford hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Jasmine Porter, who scored 15 points.
Coffee has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-12 record this season. As for Clinch County, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 12-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Coffee won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Indians at 6:00 p.m. on January 31st. Irwin County is out to stop a ten-game streak of losses at home. As for Clinch County, they will head out on the road to take on the Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Charlton County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 359th, while the Panthers are ranked 128th).
