Softball Recap: Archbishop McCarthy Comes Up Short

If Archbishop McCarthy was feeling good fresh off their 12-6 takedown of LaBelle on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Archbishop McCarthy fell just short of the Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) Stallions by a score of 4-2 on Saturday.

Sienna Garcia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Archbishop McCarthy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Krista Confesssore, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. That stolen base was Confesssore's first of the season. Alexis Nightingale was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Archbishop McCarthy's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-3. As for Somerset Academy (Silver Palms), the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-3.
