The Rock Creek Academy Lions will venture away from home to face off against the Perry Central Commodores at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Rock Creek Academy will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Saturday, then bounced right back against Columbus Christian on Tuesday. The Lions blew past the Crusaders 13-4. The Lions' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Romney Hampton made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. Hampton was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dylan Parente, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Eric Mitchell was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
Rock Creek Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Columbus Christian only posted an OBP of .320.
Meanwhile, the third road game was the charm for Perry Central, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They came out on top against Henryville by a score of 8-5 on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Commodores in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won four in a row.
Owen Hubert was incredible, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. Caleb Gehlhausen also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-4. As for Rock Creek Academy, they moved to 2-3 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
Perry Central's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Rock Creek Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .468. It's a different story for Perry Central, though, as they've only averaged .352. Will they be able to contain Rock Creek Academy's hitters?
Rock Creek Academy suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Perry Central when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
