After flying high against the Adams City Eagles last Thursday, the Skyview Wolverines came back down to earth. Skyview took a 77-59 bruising from Northfield on Friday. Skyview was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Northfield apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Despite the loss, Skyview had strong showings from Nevaeh Lucero, who scored 19 points along with eight assists and five rebounds, and Leila Estrada, who scored 18 points along with six assists and two steals. Estrada continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Marisol Recendez, who scored five points.
It was another big night for Aliyah Herron, who dropped a triple-double on 15 points, ten rebounds, and ten assists for Northfield. That's the first time this season that Herron scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nashara Ellerbee, who scored 17 points along with two blocks.
Skyview's loss dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Northfield, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 11-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Skyview will take on Gateway at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Northfield, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Denver West at 6:00 p.m.
