After flying high against the Lackey Chargers last Wednesday, the Northern Patriots came back down to earth. Northern took a 56-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hornets on Monday. Northern was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hornets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Northern's loss came despite strong showings from Erin Murphy and Makayla Marvray. Murphy scored five points along with 12 rebounds and two steals, while Marvray scored 16 points along with two steals. Murphy is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Avaya Fields, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
A'naija Bush was her usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds and five blocks for Great Mills. Bush has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaliyah Brown, who scored 11 points.
Northern now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Great Mills, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5.
Northern will be playing at home against the Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Calvert is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak. As for Great Mills, they will head out on the road to challenge the Chargers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
