Gretna is 8-1 against Chatham since September of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. Gretna can now show off three landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They really took it to Nelson County for the full four quarters, racking up a 55-7 victory on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-7.
Melvin Wooden was his usual excellent self, throwing for 163 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Hayden Moon, who rushed for 93 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries.
Meanwhile, Chatham's and Dan River's matchup on Friday was close at halftime, but Chatham turned on the heat in the second half with 28 points. Chatham put the hurt on Dan River with a sharp 42-18 win. The victory was just what Chatham needed coming off of a 51-26 loss in their prior matchup.
The win makes it two in a row for Gretna and bumps their season record up to 6-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.5 points per game. As for Chatham, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
