Weston is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Seneca is on an 11-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Silver Eagles will welcome the Indians at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Weston 3.7, Seneca 1.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Weston is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Ithaca just ended the team's eight-game winning streak on Thursday. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs.
Brady Westphal made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.
Meanwhile, Seneca owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They came out on top against Westby by a score of 3-0.
The result came thanks to Kaden Roberts's shutout, as he gave up just six hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gage Wall, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double.
Seneca's win bumped their record up to 20-2. As for Weston, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 11-1 and their overall record down to 12-5.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Weston hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .316. However, it's not like Seneca struggles in that department as they've averaged .345. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Weston came out on top in a nail-biter against Seneca in their previous meeting back in April, sneaking past 2-1. Do the Silver Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Indians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
