The Itasca Wampus Cats will be playing at home against the Italy Gladiators at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Tuesday, Itasca was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 44-39 to the Polar Bears. While losing is never fun, Itasca can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1041st, while the Polar Bears are ranked 406th).
Meanwhile, Italy struggled with assists on Tuesday (the Bulldogs had ten more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Italy was outmatched by the Bulldogs at home and fell 50-21. Italy has not had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Italy got a solid performance out of Landry Janek, who scored six points along with 16 rebounds. Janek hasn't dropped below 12 rebounds for three straight games.
Itasca has not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-19 record this season. As for Italy, their loss dropped their record down to 10-16.
Itasca came up short against the Gladiators in their previous matchup back in January, falling 54-46. Will Itasca have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other basketball content.
