The Tuscumbia Lions will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Prairie Home Panthers at 7:30 p.m. The timing isn't great for Tuscumbia: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Prairie Home has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road.
Even though New Bloomfield scored an imposing 60 points on Thursday, Tuscumbia still came out on top. Tuscumbia snuck past New Bloomfield with a 64-60 win. The win was just what Tuscumbia needed coming off of a 76-38 loss in their prior match.
Meanwhile, Prairie Home put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Wednesday. They blew past Columbia Independent 65-33 at home. Given Prairie Home's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 246th, while Columbia Independent is ranked 515th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tuscumbia's victory ended a 16-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-14. As for Prairie Home, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.
Tuscumbia was dealt a bruising 88-47 defeat at the hands of Prairie Home in their previous matchup back in February of 2022. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Tuscumbia was down 50-23.
