The Natchez Bulldogs won the last time they faced the Amite County Trojans, and things went their way on Friday too. Natchez strolled past Amite County with points to spare, taking the game 61-44. Given Natchez's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while Amite County is ranked 264th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Natchez found their leader in underclassman Daylan Haywood, who scored 23 points along with 4 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ronald Ellis Jr, who scored 11 points along with 5 assists and 3 steals.
Natchez's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Amite County, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Natchez will challenge McComb at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. McComb knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Natchez likes a good challenge. As for Amite County, they will head out on the road to face off against North Pike at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
