The Vasquez Mustangs will stay at home for another game and welcome the Santa Clarita Christian Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Saturday, Vasquez ended up a good deal behind Golden Valley and lost 68-52. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Vasquez in their matchups with Golden Valley: they've now lost three in a row.
Vasquez's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kristopher Horton, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds, and Noah Rowley who scored 17 points. Horton is absolutely dominating the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Daeron Bankett was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Santa Clarita Christian, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 64-50 loss to The Palmdale Aerospace Academy on Tuesday. Santa Clarita Christian has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Vasquez's loss dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Santa Clarita Christian, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Vasquez against Santa Clarita Christian in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 81-42 victory. Will Vasquez repeat their success, or does Santa Clarita Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
