Surprise Valley has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Happy Camp Indians at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Happy Camp took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Surprise Valley, who comes in off a win.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 18 to ten on the offensive boards, a fact Surprise Valley proved on Thursday. They walked away with a 43-33 victory over Big Valley. The victory was just what Surprise Valley needed coming off of a 55-34 defeat in their prior contest.
Casey Grove continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 23 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Surprise Valley's points. Andrew Eichstadt was another key contributor, scoring five points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Happy Camp unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They suffered a rough 51-31 defeat at the hands of Hayfork. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Happy Camp has scored all season.
Surprise Valley's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-7. As for Happy Camp, their loss dropped their record down to 7-2.
Surprise Valley came up short against Happy Camp when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 38-28. Can Surprise Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
