It was a good run, but the Prestonwood Christian Lions unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 62-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ursuline Academy. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Prestonwood Christian in their matchups with Ursuline Academy: they've now lost three in a row.
Prestonwood Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Allie Swindell, who scored nine points along with 19 rebounds and three blocks. Swindell is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Londyn Oliphant, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
Even though they lost, Prestonwood Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ursuline Academy only pulled down six offensive rebounds.
Madelyne Davis was her usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with seven assists and six rebounds for Ursuline Academy. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Davis has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Annabelle Tobin, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Prestonwood Christian's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 23-4. As for Ursuline Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.
Prestonwood Christian will head out on the road to square off against Hockaday at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hockaday will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 515th, while Prestonwood Christian is ranked 94th). As for Ursuline Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bishop Lynch at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bishop Lynch is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
