Baseball Game Preview: Franklinton Red Rams vs. Rocky Mount Gryphons

Franklinton has gone 8-2 against Rocky Mount recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Franklinton Red Rams will venture away from home to challenge the Rocky Mount Gryphons at 6:00 p.m. Franklinton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.

Jackson Zirulnik was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for Franklinton: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Gavin Watson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Rocky Mount, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over Roanoke Rapids on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Gryphons have posted against the Yellowjackets since April 12, 2022.

James High was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack McKellar, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

The victory got Rocky Mount back to even at 3-3. As for Franklinton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Franklinton has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Rocky Mount struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
