The Scotland Fighting Scots won the last time they faced the Union Pines Vikings, and things went their way on Friday too. Scotland managed a 58-52 victory over Union Pines. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Scotland.
Scotland had a senior duo take command as Dylan Lampley dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds and Jaquez Caldwell scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The matchup was Lampley's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Jonathan Graham was another key contributor, scoring three points along with 13 rebounds and three blocks.
Despite the loss, Union Pines still got an impressive performance from Jaylen Kyle, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Zion Kiser, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Union Pines were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Scotland's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-8. As for Union Pines, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-4 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Scotland will take on Pinecrest at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Union Pines, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Richmond at 7:30 p.m. Richmond presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Union Pines in North Carolina (Richmond is ranked 28th, while Union Pines is ranked 346th).
