Given Spring Grove's advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while Kingsland is ranked 133rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Kingsland lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jayden Brink. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points. Another player making a difference was Courtland Drury-DeBoer, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Kingsland struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Spring Grove's victory bumped their record up to 13-1. As for Kingsland, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-3 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Spring Grove won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Schaeffer Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Schaeffer Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 390 points over their last six contests. As for Kingsland, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against LeRoy-Ostrander at 7:15 p.m. on January 26th. LeRoy-Ostrander is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
