Basketball Recap: Parkland Comes Up Short

Parkland lost against West Forsyth back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Parkland Mustangs had to suffer through a 75-36 loss at the hands of the West Forsyth Titans. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 320th, while the Titans are ranked 26th).

Parkland's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josiah Downing, who posted seven points and 13 rebounds. Downing is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last three games he's played. Jayden Scales was another key player, putting up ten points.

Jacari Brim was his usual excellent self, going 9 of 14 en route to 27 points and seven assists for West Forsyth. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Tate, who earned ten points in addition to six assists and five rebounds.

Parkland has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for West Forsyth, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-2.

Parkland has already played their next game, a 44-43 win against R.J. Reynolds on the 28th. As for West Forsyth, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 83-64 victory against Glenn on the 28th.
