Basketball Recap: Ryann Brinkman's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Northmor over Fredericktown

Northmor lost against Fredericktown back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Northmor Golden Knights took a 44-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fredericktown Freddies. While losing is never fun, the Golden Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 531st, while the Freddies are ranked 166th).

Northmor lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ryann Brinkman, who posted 13 points and three steals. Brinkman is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelby Cooper, who had six points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Cally Carpenter continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Fredericktown, going 7 of 14 on her way to 17 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Mya Bryant was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 11 boards.

Northmor has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Fredericktown, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.

Northmor wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 36-17 defeat against Colonel Crawford on the 23rd. As for Fredericktown, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-46 win against Licking Valley on the 27th.
