After both having extra time off, the Spring Valley Grizzlies and the Doral Academy Red Rock Dragons will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
On Monday, Spring Valley didn't have quite enough to beat Desert Oasis and fell 3-2. The Grizzlies haven't had much luck with the Diamondbacks recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.
In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Spring Valley sadly dropped the once that decided the match. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 22-25, 25-21, 23-25, 15-10.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Leyla Navrkal, who had 13 digs.
Meanwhile, Doral Academy Red Rock earned a 3-1 victory over Amplus Academy on Monday. The Dragons haven't had any issues with the Archers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Doral Academy Red Rock was especially dominant in the first set. The final score came out to 25-11, 21-25, 25-17, 25-21.
Spring Valley better keep an eye on Jayda Peckham. She was instrumental in Doral Academy Red Rock's win, getting five digs, two aces, and one block. Maggie McKendrick also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
Doral Academy Red Rock was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 22 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in September of 2024.
The victory got Doral Academy Red Rock back to even at 6-6. As for Spring Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-10.
