Volleyball Recap: Coventry Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Ruby Moritz and Ava Burkhart

It was a good run, but Coventry unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-match winning streak on Thursday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Norton Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in September.

While Coventry had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 20 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-20, 15-25, 25-21.

Coventry's loss came despite strong showings from Ava Burkhart and Ruby Moritz. Burkhart had 27 digs, while Moritz had 18 assists and six digs. Burkhart has been hot, having posted 13 or more digs the last six times she's played.

Coventry's loss dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Norton, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-2.

Coming up, Coventry will challenge Perry at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Norton, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-2 defeat against Marlington on the 11th.
