After flying high against Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South on Thursday, the Gwynn Park Yellowjackets came back down to earth. Gwynn Park received a tough blow on Saturday as they fell 70-52 to Flowers. While losing is never fun, Gwynn Park can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while Flowers is ranked 17th).
Gwynn Park lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Nala Abraham, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Robyn Carpenter, who scored eight points.
Gwynn Park struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Gwynn Park's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Flowers, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Gwynn Park will be home for the holidays to greet College Park Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Flowers is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Parkdale at 7:00 p.m. on December 19th.
