Basketball Recap: Berean Christian Comes Up Short

Berean Christian lost against Jupiter Christian back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Berean Christian Bulldogs fell 71-58 to the Jupiter Christian Eagles. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Berean Christian lost, don't look at Derek Vasquez. Despite the final result, he went 8 for 19 on his way to 18 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. The match was Vasquez's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nico Vasquez, who posted 11 points.

Even though they lost, Berean Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests.

Jupiter Christian had a senior duo take command as Jordan Rivera dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds and Matthew Barrett dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Barrett has scored at least a third of Jupiter Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Jake Becker, who had nine points and six rebounds.

Berean Christian now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Jupiter Christian, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5.

Berean Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 67-32 loss against Atlantic Christian on the 17th. As for Jupiter Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 93-88 defeat against Boca Raton Christian on the 20th.
