Fossil Ridge has gone a perfect 7-0 against Saginaw recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Panthers are taking a road trip to square off against the Rough Riders at 7:00 p.m. Fossil Ridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Fossil Ridge took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They put the hurt on Chisholm Trail with a sharp 8-1 victory. Considering the Panthers have won eight matches by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Olivia Scott spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 16 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game.
On the hitting side, Kendolyn Lockhart was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Yari Santiago also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.
Meanwhile, Saginaw was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss. They lost 14-5 to Chisholm Trail.
Saginaw saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rhyan Angles, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Another was Anslee Roberts, who scored two runs and stole a base.
Fossil Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Saginaw, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-23.
Saginaw's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Fossil Ridge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .314. It's a different story for Saginaw, though, as they've only averaged .120. Will they be able to contain Fossil Ridge's hitters?
Fossil Ridge took their victory against Saginaw in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 12-0 score. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Rough Riders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
