The St. Francis Mariners are taking a road trip to take on the Heritage Christian Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Francis will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
St. Francis is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Milwaukee Lutheran on Friday as they made off with a 19-1 victory. With that win, the Mariners brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Zach Perry made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Andrew Xolot, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted over his last eight games. Another player making a difference was Kingston Liddell, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
St. Francis was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .303 or higher in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Heritage Christian's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They came up short against Kenosha Bradford, falling 10-2.
Heritage Christian saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was F. Siebert, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
St. Francis' victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Heritage Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. St. Francis has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Heritage Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
St. Francis couldn't quite get it done against Heritage Christian in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 6-3. Can the Mariners avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
