Baseball Recap: Lockhart Extends Winning Streak to Four

Lockhart came tearing into Friday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victor by a 15-4 margin over the Navarro Vikings. The Lions' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Waylon Phillips made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Lockhart is undefeated when Phillips posts two or more runs, but 1-4 otherwise.

In other pitching news, Weston Phillips looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Lockhart let Gage Deutsch and Jeremiah James run wild. Deutsch went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while James went 1-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most hits Deutsch has posted since back in February of 2024. Ethan Mendez was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Lockhart kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in five consecutive contests.

Lockhart now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Navarro, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Lockhart has already played their next game (against Kenedy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Navarro, they will square off against McCallum at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
